Sunday School Ministry

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”  II Timothy 2:15 (KJV)


For over 100 years teaching God’s Word through the Sunday School has been part of Union’s ministry to its members as well as the Bloomington-Normal community. Sunday School is the teaching and reaching arm that serves people of all ages.  Union’s Sunday School has supported families through godly teaching that begins in the home. Our Sunday School also: 


  • Provides students with a solid foundation and the biblical knowledge necessary to live the Christian life
  • Encourages students to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior
  • Assists with each student’s spiritual growth
  • Prepares students to serve in leadership roles within and outside of the church
  • Allows students to be more informed and engaged morning worshipers 


Union has been blessed with a very active Sunday School, offering classes for all ages. Over the years, we have reinforced classroom learning with biblically based activities and games in order to make bible learning effective, memorable, and fun such as:


  • Biblical Family Feud
  • Bible Jeopardy 
  • Siege of Jerusalem skit
  • Christmas and Easter plays 
  • A combined Men/Women’s Sunday School marriage class with a panel discussion


Union has been blessed over the years to have an excellent, creative, knowledgeable teaching staff. Like everything else in the world, our Sunday School has been affected by the global pandemic causing us to turn to virtual teaching and learning.  We are very happy to be able to once again offer in-person Sunday School classes for all ages on the 2nd and 4th Sundays at 9:00am. Our Sunday School curriculum is based on the International Sunday School Lesson series.
